FAQs

Using our coffee at home

Is your coffee fresh?

Great coffee starts with freshness.

That's why every Scratch Shot order is roasted in small batches before it's packed and dispatched. We don't keep shelves full of pre-roasted coffee waiting to be sold. Instead, we roast regularly to make sure every bag reaches you tasting exactly as it should.

Freshly roasted coffee also benefits from a short resting period, allowing the flavours to develop and settle before brewing. By the time your order arrives, it's at the ideal stage to enjoy, full of the sweetness, aroma and character that make specialty coffee so rewarding.

It's a simple philosophy: roast fresh, ship fresh, enjoy fresh.

What grind size should I choose?

We recommend whole bean, but we offer ground coffee for all types of brew methods if you don't have a grinder at home. Please select your brew method when selecting your coffee for the most suitable grind.

How should I store my coffee?

A little care goes a long way.

To keep your coffee tasting its best, store it somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight and moisture. An airtight container or the resealable bag it arrives in will help preserve its freshness.

Once opened, we recommend enjoying your coffee within 4–6 weeks for the best flavour.

If you choose whole beans, grind only what you need just before brewing. It's the simplest way to get the freshest, most flavourful cup every time.

How is Mulligan decaffeinated?

Mulligan is decaffeinated using the Swiss Water® Process, a 100% chemical-free method that removes caffeine while preserving the coffee's natural flavour.

Instead of using solvents, the process relies on water, temperature and time to gently extract the caffeine from the beans. The result is a coffee that retains its sweetness, body and character, delivering all the flavour you'd expect from a specialty coffee, without the caffeine.

It's why we chose Swiss Water® for Mulligan: exceptional taste, with nothing unnecessary added.

Sustainability

Is your coffee sustainably sourced?

Exceptional coffee starts at origin.

That's why we work with trusted roasting and sourcing partners who carefully select coffees from producers committed to quality, sustainability and long-term farming practices.

From supporting healthy soils and climate resilience to building lasting relationships with growers, every coffee we choose reflects a shared commitment to producing great coffee responsibly.

For us, great coffee isn't just getting you out there for the first tee, but respecting the people and places behind every cup.

How do you know your beans are good quality?

Every Scratch Shot coffee is selected for one simple reason: it delivers an exceptional cup.

Before becoming part of our range, coffees are carefully evaluated for flavour, balance and consistency, ensuring they meet the high standards we expect from every bag we sell.

Exceptional sourcing is only part of the story. Great coffee should taste as good as it looks, which is why every coffee in our range is chosen with the drinking experience firmly in mind.

Is your coffee traceable?

Yes, all coffees we source are traceable back to their origin.

This traceability allows us to verify ethical and sustainability standards while giving us full visibility over where and how each coffee was produced.

What about sustainable farming?

The coffees we choose come from producers who share a commitment to quality and responsible farming. Through our trusted sourcing partners, we support coffees grown with a focus on healthy soils, biodiversity and the long-term future of coffee-growing communities.

We believe exceptional coffee starts with respect, for the land, the people who grow it and the generations who will continue to do so.

Club tastings & events

I met you at a golf club recently. Can you come to mine?

Potentially, yes. Scratch Shot is built around getting great coffee into golfers’ hands, so we’re always interested in hearing from clubs, pros, captains and society organisers who’d like to host a tasting.

If you’d like us to visit your club, get in touch with the club name, location and the type of event you have in mind.

Do you offer coffee tastings at golf clubs?

Yes. We can arrange simple tasting sessions where golfers can try Scratch Shot, learn more about the range and take away Practice Round samples.

These are usually best suited to club mornings, society days, captain’s events, open days or busy weekend tee times.

Can Scratch Shot support a golf society day?

Yes. We can help with samples, prizes, gifting options or coffee moments before the round.

Whether you’re organising a small society day or a larger golf event, we’d love to hear what you’re planning.

Do you charge for club tastings?

It depends on the format, location and number of golfers involved. Some tasting sessions may be complimentary as part of our launch activity, while larger events may require a small fee or product order.

Send us the details and we’ll suggest the simplest way to make it work.

Who should contact you about a tasting?

Club managers, PGA pros, captains, society organisers, event teams or anyone planning a golf day.

Email us at hello@scratchshotcoffee.co.uk with the subject line “Club Tasting” and we’ll come back to you.
